The British herbarium collections span over 300 years, showing the complete development of the study of the British flora. It contains almost all the taxa native to the British Isles and is particularly rich in all the critical genera and infra-specific taxa.
Peter Sell and Gina Murrell’s work on the British flora has culminated in the 5 Volume Flora of Great Britain and Ireland: This work provides a definitive account of the native species, naturalised species, frequent garden escapes and casuals found in the British Isles and for the first time detailed accounts of all the large apomictic genera are given and many infraspecific variants are included. Separate descriptions are given for infraspecific taxa. Information on the status, ecology and distribution, including worldwide distribution of the species and infraspecific taxa is also given.
